Redhanded TV and Boulder Creek International win WMRT contract
Redhanded TV, a specialist producer of outside broadcasts for sporting events, and Boulder Creek International, the TV and film distributor have announced today that they will be producing and distributing the television coverage for this year’s World Match Racing Tour, the world’s leading professional sailing series.
The World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) features 10 World Championship events across the globe this year. With the first event scheduled between 6-11 April in Marseille, the Tour culminates with The Monsoon Cup in Malaysia at the end of November. Redhanded TV and Boulder Creek teams have been working together on the Monsoon Cup for five years and will bring this expertise to the WMRT in 2010.
With a production team of 27 at Redhanded and a further five working on the live streaming and distribution at Boulder Creek, the teams are committed to providing a television sailing experience that works well for the viewer. Using helmet, mast and bow cameras to give perspective in close contact experience, the viewer is propelled into the action to see each vital move. One of the objectives for Sam Usher, MD at Redhanded TV, is to build on the success of the Monsoon Cup coverage and to bring the viewer into the race so that they can feel what the players and sailors are experiencing minute-by-minute.
“I am incredibly excited to be working with the World Match Racing Tour this year. By listening to the sailing fans, I know we can reflect what the Tour is about and achieve that rare combination for the viewer of action, entertainment and storytelling,” said Sam Usher, MD of Redhanded TV.
With the distribution platform already established by Boulder Creek from previous work with the Monsoon Cup, Boulder Creek’s MD, Matt Jeschelnik, believes his team can build on this to develop a wider television reach for the Tour worldwide. “We are delighted to work with the World Match Racing Tour this year” Matt states. “The WMRT was the first sports brand I worked with and so it is particularly important for me to grow the brand with a team that I have worked with so well over the past five years. ”
Peter Gilmour, Acting President of World Match Racing Tour says, “We are pleased to partner with Redhanded TV and Boulder Creek International as we believe that they would best meet our requirements in supporting the Tour. They are experts in their fields, creative and passionate about their work and most importantly, sailing events. We trust that they will be able to truly bring the ‘live’ adrenalin-pumping experience of the races into the lives of viewers across the world and further inculcate interest amongst the public on professional sailing. ”

About Redhanded TV
RHTV is a leading TV production company with a dedicated and experienced team who has worked and filmed many of the world’s greatest sailing events. This is the boutique production team that has impressive credentials, experience in working on all sides of the production mix and can offer insight and experience to any event and at many levels.
RHTV works simply on 2 basic principles:
Objective Clarity and Defining Moments.
We believe great TV is based upon seeing, capturing and utilising the Defining Moments with Objective Clarity. We believe that the Detail builds the bigger picture. Every production RHTV and their teams embark upon is based upon the underlying principles of getting to the core, of seeing what’s underneath the surface to make production more exciting.
Red Handed has set a standard of live coverage and commentary that has never been seen before in sailing – and have raised the bar by a considerable margin. The challenge is now with major regatta organisers to embrace this package, and to resist the temptation to re-invent the wheel. Where to from here? The WMRT of course.

The World Match Racing Tour (WMRT) is the leading professional sailing series featuring 10 World Championship events across the globe, sanctioned by the International Sailing Federation (ISAF) with “Special Event” status.
The World Tour awards over US$1.5million in prize money with points awarded at each event culminating in the crowning of the “ISAF Match Racing World Champion”.
