John Anderson, one of Ireland’s best known music producers and conductors, presents this very special programme - and invites you to Sing St Patrick. Beautiful Irish words, music and dance - traditional and classical, sacred and secular - all combine to celebrate the most popular saint in the world.

Big exciting concerts like this cannot happen at the moment so, happily, it has given John the chance to select some of his favourite moments over the last five years, from a vast archive of truly memorable performances. And gives us the wonderful opportunity to enjoy some great pieces again.

These memorable concerts were recorded before the pandemic restrictions, in unique locations in Northern Ireland. Nowhere else in the world can claim to be the site of St Patrick’s first church or the place of his grave. John welcomes choirs and performers from all over Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales for this unique event where they sing in the beautiful acoustics of St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Armagh. Imagine the sound, as John conducts the combined choirs (800+ voices) in a magnificent Irish hymn like ‘Be Thou My Vision’. It’s a very special atmosphere that heightens the meaning of such powerful words and music. The choirs each perform a piece as their individual feature, as well as being part of the combined choirs where they are joined by some of Ireland’s great musicians and dancers.
